Man Wounded by Gunfire at Apartment Complex

Fort Myers Police responded to reports of a man being shot on May 31st, 2018, at approximately 8:39 P.M, at 4135 Ambrosia Drive in Fort Myers. Upon arrival at the Portofino Apartment Complex officers found that a victim, Thelton Jacobs, (DOB July 26, 1977) was transported by friends to the Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. He remains in the hospital at this time in stable condition. A witness stated that he and the victim had just returned to the apartment from a trip to a nearby convenience store. After they parked and exited the vehicle the witness stated he heard shots and saw Jacobs drop to the ground.


Detectives obtained a statement, collected evidence and conducted a door to door neighborhood canvas after securing the area. This is an active investigation and it is felt that there is no threat to the general public.
