461 Runners Registered for Cops & Joggers

Cops and Joggers 240

With a week to go 461 runners have registered so far for the 11th Annual Fort Myers Police Department’s “Cops & Joggers 5K” on Saturday night, October 13th. This year’s race is dedicated to fallen FMPD officer Adam Jobbers-Miller and Highlands County Deputy William Gentry.  The course runs along and over the Caloosahatchee River and will be illuminated with red and blue lights from police cruisers, motorcycles, firetrucks and more. “Our hope is to reach 1,000 runners and walkers for the 5K,” said Lt. Jeffery Bernice of the FMPD. “It’s an event for the entire family starting at 5 p.m. with children’s activities, law enforcement displays, food vendors and more at the corner of Hendry Street and Edwards Drive in downtown Fort Myers,” he added.

The night race starts at 7:45 p.m. and participants can register in person or on-line at www.ftmyerstrackclub.com with entry fees ranging from $15 for youths under 17 and $25 for adults who register by October 11, 2018.

The Cops & Joggers 5K is officially sanctioned by the Fort Myers Track Club and presented by the Fort Myers Police Department.  All proceeds will benefit the Fort Myers Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial Foundation and the Brotherhood Ride.  For more information email Lt. Jeff Bernice at jbernice@fmpolice.com or call 239-321-7698.
