Chief Jason Fields has been with the City of Fort Myers since September of 2000. Before becoming the Chief of Police in August of 2023, Chief Fields rose through the ranks from a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and to an Acting Major of Administration. Chief Fields’ focus has always been on reducing crime through intelligence-led, proactive policing, and a cooperative partnership with the community while inspiring employee performance. Chief Fields has also been involved with SWAT, Internal Affairs, Training, Hiring & Recruiting, Accreditation, and Field Training Programs.


Chief Fields' educational background includes a Master of Science Degree from Hodges University in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree from International College.


Chief Fields is currently a member of the FBI National Academy and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He is proud to now be leading the officers and civilians of the Fort Myers Police Department in a progressive direction of law enforcement and public safety.
