Sergeant Logan L. Scott

End of Watch: April 3, 1981

Cause of Death: Vehicle accident

Badge #: 45

On Friday, April 3, 1981, Sergeant Laroy Scott had just completed his tour of duty and was driving home north on Interstate 75, just south of Luckett Road, when he observed a vehicle parked in the emergency lane of the highway.  Sergeant Scott pulled behind the vehicle to assist the motorist.  Sergeant Scott offered the motorist a ride and they both entered his patrol vehicle.  A pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed rear ended Sergeant Scott's vehicle pushing it into the stranded motorists vehicle and then into the woods 442 feet away.

Sergeant Scott died at the scene but the passenger survived with minor injuries.  Had the passenger remained in their disable vehicle she would have been killed.  Sergeant Scott was 35 years old.
